I find it somewhat amusing and instructive that the lefties on here almost always refer to "firearms related" deaths or homicides when comparing statistics of Countries, and not just "deaths", or "homicides" - a bit of cherry-picking of data...
Always happy to amuse and instruct people. I suppose whatever is said and whatever the source there will always be the accusation of cherry picking from those who don't like it. You mention "just homicides" so from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime global study in 2012 I will cherry pick that the US homicide rate is four times the UK homicide rate. You also mention "just deaths" and cherry picking from the UN's most recent study it would appear that despite our appalling National Health Service we seem to live a year or two more.

What other criteria would you like to be used?

Paul

PS I used the word "appalling" as a joke as despite it not being perfect (and what is?) it does seem to be doing a reasonable job. I have always had excellent service from them apart from that one time a few years ago when a doctor did totally the wrong procedure which resulted in me losing over half my blood. Turned out he was on some exchange scheme with a hospital in, I believe, Chicago. That was a failing of our NHS to check the competency of overseas doctors and that unfortunately is something which is only now being addressed. The service after that mistake was wonderful and my recovery was complete.

PPS The above PS is not a slur on the competency of US doctors as I am positive that they are mostly excellent as are all doctors around the world who have gone through the proper medical school system. There are rogues everywhere, we have our share.
