I am interested in an Apple TV, just noticed this
#1
my Roku HD Player (Old Model) worked kind of OK for about 4-5 years, then it started responding very slow and rebuffing a lot. it seemed like it was not a network issue, after some troubleshooting I gave up and got a new one. This model, Roku 2 XS 1080p Streaming Player (Old Model), has more features which I like, such as Closed Caption, WatchESP app (which is not available on my older model) and a few other things, but it is buggy as hell. it reboots at least 2-3 per week. I even swapped it, same thing. I am not impressed with the software and/or software on Roku.

I want to try something else, I am not sure if I should try an AppleTV or Amazon Fire TV.

While looking at Apple, I could't help but notice how this looks like tiles from Windows 8. I hate this.

back to my question though: it looks like with AppleTV I cannot get Amazon Instant watch, correct? I would like to be able to stream from Amazon, and I am not interested in airplay. I just want to stream directly on the box like I can now do with Roku.

if Amazon is not available on the AppleTV, then I will probably not get an Apple TV, I either stick with roku, or try an Amazon Fire TV. I would also like to have PLEX as I plan to use a pled server to stream some videos in the future. the good news is that PLEX seems to be available for Amazon Fire TV. I will probably not be able to rent iTunes movies with Amazon box, but that is OK, I am not doing that right now with Roku and I don't miss it. if I really want to rent something I can probably rent it on Amazon.
