Too bad it isn't for the HEPA air filter used by my big Honeywell air purifier or the specialty filter system used by my RabbitAir air purifier.
I'd considered making a "ghetto" fan as described in the thread but changed my mind.
My dad, who is an engineer, overheard me talking about it with someone and warned against making one. A box fan isn't designed for use with a filter and would likely attempt to pull air through the path of least resistance and/or there is a good chance its motor would overheat while it tried to pull air through the filter. Either way, it's a good idea in theory but a bad idea in practice.
