Airline Pilot creates realistic animation of Flight 214 Crash
#7
That ghost plane would actually have been flying much faster than the crash-landing plane, but Suchocki slowed its speed to keep it in the frame for comparison purposes.

Makes sense.

He said he'd update the reconstruction as he got more details. I'm curious about one aspect. At least one, if not more, "eyewitness" accounts said the plane cartwheeled along the runway. I was surprised at how little damage was done considering the events of such a crash.

But the reconstruction shows that there was no "cartwheel", but a 360d spin. That helps explain the lack of fatalities and more serious injuries.

It also looks like there was no true stall, as I understand it, according to that animation.

Thanks for the link, pinkoos.
