I did this 2 months ago when my iPhone 4S took a swim with me in the Gulf of Mexico. The rice bath just pushed the screen out and further messed it up. No questions asked, just a clean swap at the Apple Store (though mine was $199). I'm still eligible for an upgrade to the 5S when it comes out in the Fall. Besides the $200, the worst part was that my drowned phone was jailbroken and I'm not able to JB the new one.
