A few weeks ago, I asked for some opinions on cell service, not just the phones that come with the services. Anyway, I finally decided to go with Cingular, after having been with Verizon for the past two years. The main reason is the rollover minutes feature, and GSM service. We have the family (3 phones) plan, 700 minutes monthly, one text messaging service for about $100 per month. Verizon was costing $140 average for 400 minutes; they do have a new plan that is better now, but for me now, Cingular won out. Two more years to go now, but for me, two years is a short time... I'll leave Cingular in two years if I don't like them.
On a trip to Florida, Cingular's service seemed to be as good as Verizon's, but I only get a sporadic signal in my house with Cingular, whereas Verizon's signal was strong here. I live in a fairly remote area...
