Double the number used in Simple, i.e. 8 charcs, and only numeric, just enough to thwart basic brute force attack.
On the "Enter Passcode" screen I do not see an "ok" button. I press 4 digits and it automatically unlocks the phone.
Dang, how long is your code?!

When I use a simple passcode (4 charcs) there's no OK required. When I disable Simple Passcode there's an obfuscated entry box with an "OK" area (not really a button) next to this box. This means there's now one additional action to login. Not happy!
a longer passcode [quote=3d]

I don't like the fact that after entering the passcode you have to press "ok". If I recall correctly under iOS 6 as soon as you enter the passcode it would immediately go to the home page, or am I missing something?
