[IMPRESSIONS] National Safety Council Online Defensive Driving Course

I've never heard of a defensive driving course that didn't involve driving. I'm amazed you can do it all online without any defensive driving at all.

i've been doing them since 2005. when i was the primary driver for 2 vehicles the $50 course save me about $80 a year for three years. now that my son is the primary driver on one of my cars it only saves me about $40 a year. i have to decide if it's worth my time money-wise but i will admit the course improves my driving awareness. there is no in-car experience but i have found the periodic review of safe driving principles very worthwhile.

btw, i could be wrong but i think this discount option is only available to drivers over 50. perhaps it should be called a 'safer driver' course instead of defensive but that wouldn't sound as marketing sexy.

in looking in my files i see i took the course twice with the National Safety Council and last time with the American Safety Council. it's the latter i definitely found mind numbing and won't do again.
