I think Black enjoys booting off of USB 2.0 with an SSD drive and he says this feels faster than an internal SATA Hard Drive. An internal SATA SSD would be even faster.
He may also be balancing the convenience of a USB 2.0 external drive against the possible hassle of putting an SSD inside a Mac.
I know I do.
The only modern Macs I've ever opened was my G5 ALS iMac and an early C2D mini, to install RAM in both. While I like the idea of an internal SSD, I'm just not that crazy about opening any modern Mac.
But it would be trés cool.
