Last week I bought a patio table. Guaranteed delivery by Friday 8pm with Prime. It arrives sometime around noon on Saturday. I was on the fence about making a stink about it until this morning when I saw this post. I contact Amazon CS by chat just now here at work. It goes something like this.
Chat started.
Me: I ordered a table it was a day late. I type in details,, etc.
CS. I'm sorry for the inconvenience you experienced in this case.
---silence---
Me: Are you still there?
CS: Yes, I am still here.
---silence---
Me: Is there something you can offer me to compensate for the late delivery??
CS: I am sorry that it was delivered late
CS: Sure.
---silence---
CS: I will offer you $5 credit towards next purchase. Is that fine?
Me: Ok thanks.
A five dollar discount is fine with me. It was late by half a day. And it arrived on Saturday. But getting any type of compensation for the late delivery was like pulling teeth. You had to specifically ask for it. It wasn't offered up automatically.
I paid for 2-day guaranteed delivery. It did not arrive on time. I did not receive the service I paid extra for. So of course I want some sort of compensation. It used to a free month of Prime, but now that prime has gone up to 99bucks a year. A $5 credit is cheaper for their bottom line. Sneaky bastiches.
