Those bulk storage racks are incredibly strong and versatile. They are more expensive but, can be taken with you should you move (if you wanted to). Warehouse clubs sell heavy duty, rolling tool chests that give you a good start on tool storage. I've seen some that have sturdy wood tops which would give you a starting workbench.
