To capture an audience, the suspension of disbelief is required. Just because you achieve that, does not mean you please the audience or make a mark on their consciousness. To make that mark, in another words to have people discussing the meanings of your work, etc., as you see with True Detective, you must rise above the a simple suspension of disbelief and create something more. That is when I consider a production to meet art.
