Can't believe my mice are all shot.

I have 3 or 4 wireless (1 AA battery) mice and they all seem to have gone blah at the same time. I bought them at the same time 2-3 yrs ago and they worked fine (except for battery) all that time then KAPUT. I must assume the electronics in them eventually fades?
