Maybe we could pay less for computers, tablets, overpriced text books, graphing calculators, and put more money into wages? There's a lot that can be taught by a good teacher and a dry erase or chalk board. Crazy, I know.
Edit: Not saying we don't need any tools for education, but as the iPad contract fiasco in LA can show, there's a lot of graft at play.
