Chants of “Lock her up!” (and worse) have been well-documented during the 2016 election, and misogynistic comments that have accompanied Hillary Clinton’s candidacy are not likely to abate anytime soon. Adapted from Peter Beinart’s article, “Fear of a Female President” this short video explains the theories behind a troubling trend. Could it be because men fundamentally fear a female president? There are ingrained and documented negative responses to women in power that suggest reactions to Clinton’s presidency are directly tied to men’s fear of emasculation.
