‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Trailer: Web Wings, Teen Angst, And A First Look At The Vulture

....We told you how fantastic Spider-Man: Homecoming looked last summer after Marvel’s Hall H-dominating presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, but you’ve had to take our word for it since then. At last, however, you can see a bit for yourself via the film’s first trailer, which premiered on Jimmy Kimmel Live. In fact, stop reading these pointless words and watch it above now.

Being the webslinger’s second appearance as an official part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the aptly-titled Spider-Man: Homecoming sees Peter Parker back in Queens after his adventures in Captain America: Civil War. Taking place during his high school’s homecoming weekend, the film sees Spidey facing the regular perils of being a teenager, and the superpowered perils of classic villains The Vulture and The Tinkerer.

The good news for those of you unable to make it to San Diego, there’s a lot here that wasn’t covered in the Comic-Con presentation, like the adorable first moment where Spidey breaks up an attempted bank robbery perpetrated by a gang wearing cheap Avengers halloween masks. It’s a great moment for choreography alone, but better is the way Peter Parker snarks that the crooks can’t possibly be the real Avengers. It’s a moment straight out of the comics, in spirit – though I won’t be shocked if there’s an actual issue being referenced. And it’s proof that Spider-Man never should have existed outside of the shared Marvel universe. (That said, there’s a nice nod to the Sam Raimi-directed Spider-Man 2 late in the trailer.)

The trailer really emphasizes Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) as Peter Parker’s superhero mentor. In Civil War we saw Stark give Peter his updated costume and here, we see him rather urgently trying to keep Peter from running before he walks, super-villain wise. Naturally it doesn’t stick and it looks like we’ll get a Marvel Team Up at some point in the film between Iron Man and Spider-Man.

Finally, we get our first look at Michael Keaton’s Vulture, seen here as a bitter, menacing sort who threatens to murder anyone Peter cares about if he doesn’t back off. Previous comments from Spider-Man Homecoming producer Kevin Feige have suggested Vulture will be something of a dark mirror to Peter, a regular guy who ends up with powers but turns evil. That’s hinted at here where he comes off like an angry, bitter bus driver.

‘War For The Planet Of The Apes’ Trailer: Caesar Fights His Darker Instincts In Epic Battle

.....20th Century Fox has dropped the first official trailer for War For The Planet Of The Apes.

Directed by Matt Reeves, the film starring Andy Serkis and Woody Harrelson, follows the events of 2014’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which saw peace between mankind and apekind broken permanently and a final war looming. Caesar (Serkis) and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel (Harrelson) that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.

Reeves also co-wrote the script with Mark Bomback. Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver produce. Cast also includes Steve Zahn, Amiah Miller, Karin Konoval & Terry Notary.

The new Apes follows the initial 2011 Rise of the Planet of the Apes reboot of the 1960/1970s franchise and its Dawn of the Planet of the Apes sequel. Reeves also directed the Dawn film and Clark was also a producer on that film as he was on the 2011 Rupert Wyatt helmed pic.

War For The Planet Of The Apes will bow in theaters July 14. Watch above and let us know what you think.
