Have you tried calling customer support? Sometimes companies can be reasonable when you actually talk to a human who understands what happened, and can reverse the charge.

Too much trouble for $6. I'm going the bad social media route instead.
So let me see if I have this straight. You intend to badmouth them publicly for their completely reasonable response to a mistake you made, without giving them the opportunity to remedy the situation... because you can't be bothered to give them that opportunity?

That seems fair.

(And I'm being REALLLLY diplomatic with that response.)

Screw being diplomatic - you're an asshole.
I understand your point, but you think $0.09 short costing $6 is a reasonable policy?

Basically, he has decided that he shouldn't be required to accept responsibility for the consequences of his actions -- and I fucking HATE when people decide they shouldn't be required to accept responsibility for the consequences of their actions. That attitude has had a tremendously corrosive effect on our society.
I call you on you BS. I am taking responsibility, by paying the $6. If I didn't think I was technically responsible I would not pay the service charge. I'm sure they have it buried somewhere in their terms.

Wow, get off your moral high horse. Now that I've paid it I'm calling out Century Link on they're BS late fee. I'll do that in the court of public opinion - the only arena where it might actually matter to them. I've posted on their Facelift sight and a few other places. If I cost them one customer then I'm more than even. That's how they become responsible for their policies, by owning them in the light of disclosure.

Let's compare them to another similar corporation I've also been doing biz with for many years - T-Mobile. There's been numerous occasions where I've been a few cents short on my bill (and a few where I've paid a few cents too much). They just make a slight adjustment next month and move on. No prob.
If you actually believe this makes you the good guy in this scenario, you are sadly mistaken.
