You can load Google Play, play services, Google account, etc and then have access to a lot of apps, but rooting was a no go last I checked. Fire Phone OS is based on Kit Kat

No problem. I actually had Google Play Services, Play Store, and the like installed on my Fire Phone when it was still based on Jelly Bean and it worked pretty well. If memory serves, you can only add one Google account and you can't delete the account very easily (wiping the phone will obviously work, but I can't remember if erasing app data for the Goole Account tool deletes the account). Which is probably fine for most people, but I needed the phone to work for my partner who downloads apps from our group account, but syncs to her own specific Google account.
