Appliance purchase -- Amazon vs Home Depot/Lowes?

Personally, I won't buy from Lowes again. I bought a dishwasher there a few years ago and they had a deal to get it installed. They had some independent contractor install it. A few months later it was having problems. The MFG sent out a repairman. It was apparently damaged during installation. He asked who installed it. He said technically that voids the warranty and that I would have to go back through Lowes to see if they'll do anything about it. But he said he couldn't rule out that it was damaged in shipping to the store, so he went ahead and repaired it. He said it was a common transport issue that occurs after the dishwasher was removed from its original packaging.

Although Amazon is a "local company" for me, and they have their brick & motor store, I'd still want to buy... hmm, I don't know what better service I would get from Lowes or HD than I would get from Amazon :/

I recently had to return another appliance to Lowes and that was painful. It required multiple trips to the store and multiple phone calls.
