Hey fellow cheapskates, what's your favorite way to get NYT content for free?

Well, it's not totally free. I have a subscription to Sunday only and that gives me access to all digital content. I use Calibre to download the daily NY Times and email it to my iPad.
Like I said, it's not totally free, but pretty much close to it.
