Kudos on your decision to go vintage, it is well worth for those who appreciate great sound. Still have the Marantz 2230 with wood (well simuwood I think I'd call it) cab that I grew up with...I think this is a '75 or '77 model.

Sound is amazingly warm and full vs. my modern (and cold, digital) Denon 16xx. Interestingly, it's also WAY more powerful...I can ramp up the volume and it won't cut out or shut off unlike my Denon. In '09, I found a guy who restores them for a few hundred bucks, but I didn't pull the trigger. He replaces the blue lights with LEDs so they last forever I guess, and cleans up all the pots and innards to make it as like-new as possible. PM me if anyone wants his contact info.
