I've got a Marantz 2230 in my basement too - it was my very first receiver! I also didn't spring for the case, but made one (out of oak) in my senior wood shop class.
Some of the lights have gone out, the pots _are_ noisy, and the power switch has to be pressed just so to stay on, so I'd be interested in the guy who re-furbs receivers like mine.
FWIW, I also recently inherited some groovy SAE gear (out of my price range way back when), like this:

and this:

that I have driving a crummy pair of speakers in a workout room. Also very noisy (slide) pots. But those LEDs on the front of the power amp were so cool back in the day, I'd just go to the stereo shop and watch them bounce around...
