Actually, your first photo shows a '53. Seven years older than that Lark! They used that same basic body shell all the way through 1964 as the Hawk and GT Hawk, which somehow managed to remain very good-looking. Mainly new roof, hood and trunk panels, and fins of course. Stude's design team did heroic work on a miniscule budget. Developing the Avanti, it's said they designed the whole car with the budget GM would have spent on a door handle.
