It's that FB circumvents paywalls when a link is posted there. But when that link is posted elsewhere, the FB "magic" no longer works. Which is why I can get to that article from FB but not from my own link that I posted here myself by cutting-and-pasting the exact FB link.
Reading oft-cited articles on FB from periodicals with paywalls is one of the lesser-known advantages of using Facebook.
