Does Baking Soda absorb new furniture odor?

A couple weeks ago, I got a new old car (99 Altima). The previous owners must have smoked like chimneys, I was about ready to gag by the time I got home. The next day, I went to the store and found some Pet Odor carpet spray in the bargain aisle, for $1.00, I figured I might as well try it. Sprayed down the interior with the entire can, in a couple days, it was much better. This probably won't help your dresser, but I thought I'd mention it for PSA.

I hope you got a STEEP discount. Once that stench gets in the seat foam and inside the ductwork and behind the dash. Its there for life.
