The Cowboys decided to throw against the Packers when they needed one yard. The threw it incomplete, kicked the FG, and left time for Packers to beat them. Had they run the ball with Elliott they would have gotten the first down and run off more lock before kicking the FG. Had they not gotten the first down, they still would have run more time off the clock on a run attempt instead of the clock stopping when the pas hit the ground.
Atlanta's defense was gassed in the 4th quarter. That is why you run for that one yard. You get the field goal. Even if you miss the defense is off the field for a bit longer. You could tell on the Pats last drive in OT that they had the legs and Atlanta didn't.
