My friend's daughter was murdered by a classmate who had obtained a gun during the burglary of someone else's home. He broke in, shot her and her mother and then himself. He and the daughter died.
I doubt many burglars come across the ingredients for TNT or a firebomb while ransacking a house.
And the thing about guns is, once you have one it is extremely easy to act on impulse and take a life.
The irony is that I'll bet the burglary victim had the gun for "protection". Instead his weapon destroyed the life of my friend and took the life of her daughter.
so sorry to hear about your friend's loss Stevie.
I agree completely, guns make it easy to act on the worst impulses.
that's why people who advocate for safety are pushing gun responsibility and not gun control now. a lot of gun owners, including NRA members, are on board with that message and they get it.
guns need to be kept away from dangerous people and we do a bad job at that now. we could tighten our laws and not infringe on the rights of responsible, lawful gun owners, and many many lives would be saved.
