I did google an old colleague recently, and saw his Linkedin profile. Everything he wrote about the place we worked together for five years about 25 years ago was pure fiction. I imagine there's a lot of that on there.
That is the rub....that isn't really people you know asking you to join, that is people that, when joining, allowed LinkedIn to harvest all the contacts, and send that stupid, join spam.
I have had to unsubscribe from emails addresses I rarely use, just because someone said "OK" send invites to everyone.
I despise LinkedIn for this.
