This reminds me a little bit of the time Trump's lawyer John Dowd said he was the one that sent the "I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI" tweet - which would have been fairly strong evidence of illegal behavior on Trump's part if he could be collared for sending the tweet. But in that case Dowd probably had zero to do with the original tweet and just fell on his sword for Trump. In this case, I'm sure Trump and Giuliani cooked this up together and in their diminished state of mental capacity between the two of them they didn't see how stupid it was. Once it was exposed as being stupid, well, then, of course, Giuliani had to take the fall. That's the way it seems to me anyway.
