She is possibly one of the least qualified people in Trump's cabinet, and that's in a cabinet filled with bizarrely unqualified people. When she helped with Trump's inauguration, Nielsen was a little known cyber security consultant angling for an undersecretary position in a DHS sub-agency. Then Kelly's pick for DHS head was derailed because he was from the Obama admin. So they went with Nielsen, who has zero experience with immigration matters and is a 100% Trump political hack.
This is where executive power over immigration is downright scary. We all hope that Trump becomes a lame duck president in November 2020. 2020 is when a lot of the current special immigration protections for people from places like Honduras expire. Hopefully a federal judge can keep Trump's orders at bay until he's out of there. Judges are all that stand between Trump and all the racist, xenophobic stuff he wants to do.
