Had a friend seated who was called for a death penalty case.

Voir dire included the question "so, could you vote for the death penalty...for the defendant sitting right over there?"

Happily for the eventually-convicted defendant his court-appointed was a drunk who kept falling asleep during the trial so he cut a much better deal prior to retrial.
