Any Great Breakthroughs In Cooking Timer Technology?

My trusty old wind-up Sunbeam cooking timer has gone wonky after only 25 years of service... I tell ya, when ya pay three whole dollars for something, you expect it to last better than that! :oldfogey:

Seriously though, are there any significantly better types of timers out there now or should I just get a brand-new version of the old one?
