Anyone ever had a claim honored using a credit card's purchase protection or extended warranty plan?

I filed two claims over the years and both were paid out without any discussion. I did not have Apple Care, both issues occurred in the second year of ownership. One was an optical drive on a G3 iBook, the other was a trackpad on a MBP.
