I agree, even if the spare is an option, it should be available. The last flat I had was in a year old Lexus SUV. I pulled over and called roadside service, after about 5 minutes on hold I gave them my location and was told about 45 minutes and the driver would call me before arriving to let me know the color, make and model of the vehicle coming to road side assist me.
After about 40 minute they called, letting me know the white pick up truck was about 20 minutes away, I thanked them but told them I had put on the spare and left the scene about ten minutes ago.
My Cadillac has a spare but my new BMW has run flats and no spare. Run flats, that's a different topic all together
