Amazon can be pretty funky w/ the whole review process, for reasons that make no sense to their actual customers. I've gotten blocked and dinged three times simply for telling the truth. I think the sellers may have an avenue to contest negs and move to block negative reviewers. Amazon has a whole bunch of fine print that includes a variety of no-no's. They make it pretty clear, no good reviews in exchange for free stuff....
I bought a wired earbud headset with the goal of being able to fall asleep with it on, since it was listed as lightweight, and "comfort fit" in its title description. Turned out, that was the only decent characteristic it had. The sound quality was poor, it had the worst cable rumble of any wired earbuds I'd ever used, and something else was also one star rating worthy. I explained everything, and the seller, and probably their brother-in-law, took issue w/ my commentary. So, I updated my review in more detail, and stated that if the seller wanted to replace the original headset w/ one that worked better, as they claimed it did, I would be happy to reconsider my review. In the mean time, I stated, the 2 star review would stand, because the headset was lightweight and comfortable enough to sleep on.
Shortly thereafter, I got blocked, ALL the reviews for the product disappeared, and within a few weeks, the product was no longer available. It was relisted after another few weeks, and looked to have a bunch of bogus reviews posted; and then again ALL the new reviews vanished and the product has not been available since. Bottom line is, you never can fully know when to avoid the AMZ review mess.
I always contact the seller first, before going neg in public, to give them a chance to respond. The seller failed to respond, and while AMZ would do a return, since the earbuds were comfy enough to sleep on, my choice was to hold onto 'em until finding some that are just as comfy but sounded better.
