Am I weirding out for nothing? Sprint/TMobile

We've been with Sprint for quite a while, happy with the rates and service. Since the merger, we were told to go into a local store to get new sims. I went in and got mine a few days ago, easy peasy. Tonight we went in to get my husbands switched out and it was a whole different scenario. Before, I gave them my phone, my phone number and my sprint password. Tonight they asked for ID (that was ok) but then they asked for my Apple ID and password. I asked why would they need that? They said it was "sometimes" required. I said lets go ahead without it and we'll see what happens. Well, sure enough, it was never needed, but it just gave me a creepy feeling. Two youngish guys in the store, why on earth would they ask for my Apple ID and password?
Felt creepy to me, but maybe I'm just paranoid in my old age.
