Dark-haired Dudley Dursley is the analogy that occurred to me. Sure, this type of behavior can wrongly be considered "cute" when the kid is 5, but rewarding it will simply convince him that it's okay. How "cute" will it be when he does similar things at 10, or at 15, and expects a similar reward?
