The commentators would've reamed him if he'd intentionally aimed in anger at the judge and the judge would've sustained a tremendous injury from getting hit by the ball. The incident was unintentional. Unfortunate but unintentional.

It looks intentional to me, I don't buy this was an accident. This wasn't hit as a dead ball bouncing around that was whacked out of unaimed frustration. He took the ball out of his pocket and wanted to send a message to the line judge. This guy makes a mighty good living off his ability to control the trajectory of a ball. IMO, he meant for it to be a couple inches to the side of her throat like a shot across the bow.
