Curt Schilling is a confirmed bigot. Go ahead and give him more honors - it will only diminish what the HoF means to most Americans.
The Hall of Fame should "only" mean the best of the best. Period. Otherwise, what's the point? There isn't any other point. Really, anyone that feels otherwise, needs to acknowledge that they don't care about baseball.
Amen. And this applies doubly to that travesty called the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame."
R&R HoF is a joke. I agree with admitting those that predated R&R that significantly influenced R&R. Admitting Pop Stars is a freaking joke, especially when some very influential performers from the 60's and 70's haven't been admitted yet.
As for Baseball HoF, players that were caught using steroids, cheating or violating ethics shouldn't be inducted IMO. Admittance should be limited to those that had stellar careers or otherwise made exceptional contributions to the game.
My main point is "none" of these guys were "caught" doing steroids. There were no rules against it until 2003, when they codified it. All these guys got in trouble for not acknowledging it when congress had hearings. And Bonds was "never" aware that what he was taking was steroids. Balco lied to him. They were never in trouble for taking steroids. You can't apply a rule after the fact then try to enforce it. That's not fair.
And I think that anybody that qualifies as a "badass" should be considered for any kind hall. We should be debating the definition of "badass." robfilms made a good argument against Schilling earlier in this thread.
