One policy initiative that would help is strengthening voters rights. The GOP accurately sees that in order to win, they need to suppress votes, and they’re going to be pretty blatant about it on a state level after 2020.

Yeah, the Repubs will throw mud like crazy at any federal effort to maintain or improve voting rights, but I think at this point, their efforts are pretty transparent, like trying to restrict early voting when we’ve just lived through a pandemic. Exactly what is wrong with early voting? How does voting over a slightly longer period increase the risk of voting fraud over trying to do it all in one day?

It doesn’t, and I think the average person will recognize that. The right has one real concern about it, and that’s that when more people actually get a chance to vote, they tend to vote Dem. And they don’t conceal that concern very well.
