They can do whatever they want. Who can stop them? They don't care about the hazard pay. They really don't. They do want to shut down stores though. They want to shut down hundreds of them.
When a company becomes to big to ignore the SoCal market, it's just to big to be justifiable.
Ain't nothing you or me are going to do about it. Amazon and Walmart is cleaning their clock. It's harder for them to shut down stores in California because they have union contracts. That's not a problem most other places. They'll use any excuse to pare down stores. This Long Beach hazard pay thing gave them a good excuse to do just that. Once the pandemic is over, they'll be back to scrappin.

Safeway/Albertsons/Vons (same company) is suffering the same fate.
