Mickey Guyton‘s lament ( in that CNN article ) about Wallen being “canceled” does not square with her claim racism abounds. I’m not clear on what she wants or expects.
If she feels he shouldn’t be shut down, she owes an alternative suggestion behind wishes and prayers that he was a different kind of person.
She’ll either accept his existence or other’s actions taken against him. I see much space her for anyone to exist in limbo.
What are you talking about, deckeda?
She doesn't "lament" Wallen being canceled, and she doesn't bemoan any of the consequences he has incurred. She says she doesn't believe in cancel culture, and then clearly states, "People must all be given a chance to change. Morgan must feel the weight of his words but completely throwing someone away is detrimental to anyone's mental health."
You've read a lot into her words that isn't there. She can simultaneously believe that he should face the music (as it were) for what he's done, but also believe that he should be seen as someone who is more than a terrible decision that he made. If Morgan does, in fact, "feel the weight of his words," he can do more than offer a two-bit apology, and perhaps he will.
Attacking a Black woman for expressing compassion might not be the best thing to do here.
