Plenty of known side-effects, and not a lot of convincing scientific evidence that it has key benefits.
Talk to your health care provider, learn about the side effects (making sure none are potentially lethal for your specific health status, for example), and make an informed decision.
When I did some googling now, the links to proponent sure looked like advertisements. I do not see a lot of research papers from PubMed noting efficacy.
This project using dogs is interesting, but keep in mind dogs are highly inbred and even if rapamycin DOES help our furry friends, it might not help people.
