Oh God. You don't think they didn't try everything back then up to now? They're not going to do anything that helps anybody. 10 years from now there will still be dysfunction. They're not interested in solving crime. Just being able to foment the right attitude and re-direct money to suit themselves.

You don't think that people are being murdered around me right now every day that isn't on your radar? We're swimming in crime. You think cops are the only thing that bring harm to Black and brown people? Cops are a tiny tiny fraction of that.

I believe in progress, and so yeah - I'm going to say that they "didn't try everything back then up to now." There have never been adequate mental and physical health services in schools. There have never been real efforts to establish restorative vs. retributive justice systems to help students heal instead of just punishing offenders. There have never been adequately resourced links between the community organizations that support families at risk and in trouble, and the schools where they send their kids.

I can tell you one thing - more cops in schools has resulted in a lot of minority students incarcerated, but it never seems to have controlled the problem of violence or criminal activity in schools. Why is this your solution, when it has never worked before?

I don't think cops are the only thing bringing harm to Black and Brown people, and I don't think that they only bring harm to Black and Brown people. I just think they don't work well for Black and Brown students in schools, because that's what all the evidence suggests.
