Portland has gone from 1400 down to under 900 officers, NYC has cut over $1 billion from the police budget for example. In both cities violent crime has sky rocketed. In Seattle, 911 response time has gone from 7 minutes to 17 minutes. Again, crime is way up.
"The FBI’s Preliminary Uniform Crime Report, January–June, 2020, reveals overall declines in the number of violent crimes and property crimes reported for the first six months of 2020 when compared with figures for the first six months of 2019. The report is based on information from 12,206 law enforcement agencies that submitted three to six months of comparable data for both years to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program."
"Each year when Crime in the United States is published, some entities use reported figures to compile rankings of cities and counties. These rough rankings provide no insight into the numerous variables that mold crime in a particular town, city, county, state, or region. Consequently, they lead to simplistic and/or incomplete analyses that often create misleading perceptions adversely affecting communities and their residents. Valid assessments are possible only with careful study and analysis of the range of unique conditions affecting each local law enforcement jurisdiction. The data user is, therefore, cautioned against comparing statistical data of individual reporting units from cities, metropolitan areas, states, or colleges or universities solely on the basis of their population coverage or student enrollment."[/quote
Yes, republican states have lower crime and have offset the massive increase in crime in key liberal cities such as NYC, Portland, Austin, Seattle, San Francisco etc.
