Professional Curiosity: What do your kids schools use for 1:1 Devices?

We spent $3 million* on ipads that were not used much after about 3 years and were in school only. I fought against this expenditure, as I could see the futility in it. All middle school and high schoolkids are on chromebook which seem to have a slightly longer shelf life.
