As remakes go, this one might not be too terrible...

Honestly, most of Stephen King's books weren't that hot.

-The Stand was great (the original edited version)

-The Gunslinger stuff was decent

-The Shining was decent, and Kubrik's movie was good

-I enjoyed some of his short stories

-A few others weren't bad: Misery, Dolores Claiborne, etc.

Not everyone likes his writing, I agree. The Stand and Firestarter are amongst my faves, but I also think that Salem's Lot, Carrie, and It are up there... I actually didn't care that much for the likes of Misery, The Shining, etc. ... and as for the best film adaptations, I'd say The Stand (1990's version), Carrie (1970's version), It (most recent version), The Green Mile, and The Shawshank Redemption are all up there.

Give credit where credit is due -- although not everything he's done is to everyone's taste (not by a long shot!) -- he's certainly been prolific and has come up with some very memorable stories: https://screenrant.com/every-stephen-kin...est-worst/
