Garlin and ABC mutually agreed on the split. They paid him for the remaining episodes, and there was no drama. He allowed them to fake his presence to wrap things up.
He has had certain behaviors for several seasons, and there have been previous talks, just nothing that warranted a parting of ways. I suspect they decided it wasn't going to continue to work that way.
I've been following this for a while. His behavior is what it is. ABC went into the contract knowing he was a very huggy kind of guy, and used coarse language, but not in a mean or abusive way. I guess times have changed, and maybe not for the better.
