My only issue with unions is they make it very hard to get rid of really crappy workers.
My partner's dad was #2 in the local pipe and steamfitters union. Many of the union leaders and instructors in the union hall were taught by him when they were apprentices, and he was a master welder for nuclear piping systems. His eldest son now carries the family torch...
