Yea, this thread is weird. If it's in stock, just buy it at the store, since you'd have to go to the store either way. Maybe if your local store has quick returns, you might save some time that way. Mine doesn't, the returns line is always crazy, so I avoid Costco returns at all costs.
If it's out of stock at the local warehouse, then it seems like they'd be less inclined to do a price match...
I guess this only makes sense if the item is inconveniently large, like a furniture set, appliance, pergola, etc. Then you might not want to (or can't) bring it home with you, or bring in the physical item to do a return, thus the "price match from the receipt" inquiry.
But, if that's the case, you're trying to get the discounted price, plus (presumably) "free shipping". And because of the item's large size, that might explain the difference between the online and warehouse prices (online is essentially accounting for shipping). Whereas with the warehouse price, you have to provide your own "shipping".
